Grade and Diameter Selection
Ball diameter and material grade should be selected with the mill type, ore characteristics, impact conditions and current grinding-media performance in mind. At suitable diameters, including Ø75 mm, B2 can be through-hardened and achieve high core hardness with the appropriate heat treatment. Ball diameter alone is not a reason to specify B3.
Quality Verification
The agreed specification can cover chemical composition, surface and core hardness, diameter and roundness. Impact or drop-test requirements and the inspection records to be supplied are confirmed according to the order and contract.
